We are off and running....
Welcome back to MHS! I know we are going to have a great year.
From time to time I will post information on the blog. You are welcome to check the blog for postings and of course read earlier postings as a way to get to know how I think and make connections. You may also post a comment but I do have guidelines: appropriate questions and comments and please include your initials and class period. While I will be checking for comments, it is up to your fellow classmates to generate the majority of responses. I may occasionally respond if comments from classmates are not forth coming. This is going to be your opportunity to continue our class dialogue with your fellow classmates.
Let’s quickly review some of the goals we have outlined so far. In US History I we will be thinking like historians:
Asking questions
Using multiple sources (primary and secondary)
Debating, discussing, reading and writing
We are looking at the events, issues, and personalities of the time period (1620-1900) through multiple lenses so that each of us can construct our own narrative.
Make sure to come to class each day prepared, that is, have your learning tools with you (book, notebook, pen, colored pencils and folder) and be ready to engage in the discussion of the day. You get out of school what you put into it so come with a winning attitude.
The current events assignment begins on day 1 and continues on day 4. This is an on going assignment so start watching the evening news and reading the paper or news magazines. Talk with family and friends about issues that interest you. Ask questions. Make connections.
